Google News indexes tens of thousands of articles a day, but not all of them are original. Publishers can now use two metatags to help Google determine which URL should be considered the original version of an article:

You can now use the “original-source”  metatag to tell Google that your site is the original source of the article and it is the one that should be included in Google News.

The tag looks like this:

meta name=”original-source” content=””

Google warns that misuse of the original-source metatags may reduce the importance of the tags at your site or cause it to be removed from Google News altogether.
