We didn’t engage Ed Taylor until I had attended 3 or 4 of his free SEO webinars. I was able to use information he was providing at no cost to solve some SEO issues. I liked what he had to say and how he said it.
Ed is our 9th SEO firm and hopefully our last. First of all his model is unique. He’s a “coach” which means you meet via web conference examining your website, analytics and so forth. Based upon the metrics, Ed then makes actionable recommendations to increase your website’s traffic and conversion.
Because he’s “coaching” you, you do the heavy lifting – content & email deployment – URL fixes and so forth. Ironically having been a client elsewhere I’m doing about the same amount of work I was while retaining other SEO firms at a much higher cost.
The biggest difference between Ed and other firms seems to be SEO firms spend a lot of “chargeable” time developing back links but charge extra for content creation or any other “under the hood” work. One popular model today is to target 5 keywords for the first page of Google – for $1000 per month fee.
With Ed we’re tracking about 200 keywords (about 26 on page one now) and watch closely for “low hanging” opportunities like 2nd page keywords we can focus efforts to push to page one with small efforts. It’s a more holistic approach.
Since engaging Ed’s service – about 60 days ago, we’ve almost doubled the number of keywords on page one of Google and seen traffic to WindyCityParrot.com increase about 15 – 20%. Ed has brought a number of keywords into focus that enable us to see higher search rankings thus more “quality” website traffic.
I would highly recommend Ed, especially to website start ups not only because of his business model and pricing but because he is trustworthy

Ed as you know I have worked with four Internet marketing experts over the last two years, and I wanted to take a few minutes to let you know that my experience with you is not even comparable to the rest.
You are extraordinarily bright and gifted when it comes to Internet marketing, you are an ethical professional who I know I can trust (which I’ve found to be extremely rare in this field). You have given me many excellent suggestions that we have implemented to improve the results produced by our website, blog, social marketing, e-mail and even some of our “off line” marketing. Thank you.
I want you to know that I would highly recommend you to anyone looking for a very knowledgeable Internet marketing expert. Please feel free to pass this along to anyone who is considering hiring you to be their Internet marketing coach.

You know I’m a huge fan of social networking BUT most people, get to most websites, most of the time, from a search engines, period!
Google, Yahoo! and Bing will drive FAR MORE qualified visitors to your website and (if your website does a good job converting visitors into customers or leads) add far more profits to your bottom line than Facebook, LinkeIn, Twitter and the rest combined. Again, I love them all, but in 2012 SEO IS STILL KING when it comes to adding profits to your small business. Get your SEO in order FIRST and then build your social networking and mobile marketing.
Check out the video, it reveals the #1 key to a successful SEO campaign.

Marketing your business today requires businesses to be more creative in delivering a message. Thanks for giving such a good advice in making the business even more successful for 2012.
I just found out how to undo a closed tab in Google Chrome. I thought I’d share it even though it’s not directly marketing related. If you didn’t know about this I’m sure you will find it handy.

Go ahead, give it a shot.

The irony here is that Google Image search is full of copyright protected images that have been copied. Google makes a cache thumbnail copy of all images it finds and keeps them without the EXIF data inside. Thus in my book (and in the eyes of the law) they are breaking copyrights on a massive scale, as they are copying images and changing them at the same time.
Double irony is that when you upload an image to a social network (all but flickr) they automatically change the name of the file, remove the exif and make multiple copies. In some cases they make the uploaded the copyrights holder. Again all very dubious and illegal.
So it seems that if you rely on someone else for hosting you can get fried, but if you do it yourself, your free and clear to copy as you will.
Another issue is competitors websites using your brand name as a keyword in Google adwords. You should Google your website name often to check for this.
It has happened to us twice and I send a threatening email which fixes the problem.
Ed, Good advice. We use up to 100 new images a month in our various on-line venues. We did receive notification of an infringement a few months ago, which after an investigation turned out to be the image bank’s error, not ours. We had already paid for the image in question. Fortunately, however, the vendor contacted us first, not the ISP, so we could resolve the problem. Since we deal with only a couple of image bank vendors and make regular purchases, I like to think we have a good relationship with them. It’s easy enough to have a FPO image slip by when you’re really busy, too, I guess, though that’s not happened here. I think one way to mitigate copyright infringement issues is to deal with just one or two vendors, if you can. Or at least know your vendors well, so they contact you not your host.
